Hieeeeeeeeeeeee. I got so many things for Christmas. And I love them all. But here are my favorites.
LED Sneakers: They light up and you can change the colors. You can also make the lights flash or change colors on their own. The other day we went out shopping and four people stopped me to tell me they liked my shoes. Today we went to the library and two people told me they liked my shoes. That’s six people.
Rainbow light: I turn it on at nighttime and use it as a nightlight. When I look at the rainbow when I’m falling asleep I feel like a fabulous leprechaun.
Origami: I’m a master origami-er now. My mom bought me a beginner’s origami book and I’m almost done with it. My favorite thing to make is a swan. I didn’t even ask for origami stuff but my mom knew I would like it. I had no idea I was so good at origami-ing.
Makeup: My Uncle Michael got me a for-real makeup case with makeup in it. He got me makeup brushes that feel so good on my face. I tickle myself with them. The makeup he got me is totally makeup for professionals. I’m not a professional yet, but I will be soon. I even got pink eyelashes and mascara. My mom says she wants to borrow the lipstick and eye shadow he got me because it’s from a brand called Urban Decay.
Dress: My new drag dress is very colorful. It’s short in the front and long in the back and glittery. When I put on the dress, I feel like I’m a drag queen being a unicorn.
LEGO Friends Amusement Park: It came with a rollercoaster, a Ferris wheel and a spin-y thing. It had 1,124 pieces and I built the whole thing on Christmas Day all by myself. My mom says it was supposed to take me all of Christmas Break to build it and keep me busy. I was very proud of myself when I finished it.
Flex Seal: I’ve been wanting Flex Seal so bad so that I can make anything I want out of rubber. I’m going to make a rubber cup and a rubber bowl.
Bath Stuff: I love to take baths. I got soap in the shape of little roses. And bath bombs. And bath confetti. When I take a bath I read People magazine and let the conditioner sit in my hair for a little while so that I don’t have tons of knots.

I love this so much. I myself always wanted light-up shoes as a kid… they are so much more awesome-looking two decades later! And they change colour?!? I was born too soon…
The semi-circle pattern on the top of his dress actually makes me think of mermaids… maybe a unicorn mermaid? Or would that be a mermaid unicorn? Mermicorn? Unimaid?
His smile there with the flex-seal… I know that smile… I remember making it… I love that feeling of pure glee at the creative prospects ahead. ‘A cup- no, a bowl- no, a bucket- no– a SWIMMING POOL! MADE OUT OF SILK! RAINBOW SILK! WITH SEQUINS!’ XD
And aaah, origami… the only thing I can remember how to make nowadays is a crane. Though I always get turned around on the first couple folds… do you start with the triangle that becomes a square, or the square that becomes a triangle? Right now I know it’s the first one, but give it a few months and I’m sure I’l be back to banging my head on the table trying to remember. I love the little piano! I wonder if he’ll become an ‘origami snob’ like I did at his age, and only accept it as proper origami if there are no scissors involved. ‘Origami means FOLDED paper, not CUT paper!’

Awesome stuff, CJ! I used to play with my brother’s Legos all the time, so I know how great it is to finish! And I am also jealous, like your mom – I can’t afford Urban Decay right now (we social workers don’t really make that kind of money), so I am looking forward to seeing the posts about how you style yourself. I’m an old lady and I still think all of them sound terrific…well, except for that mega-Lego set, I would have to leave that one in the box (A sad, sad place for Legos!)– otherwise, the 6 pawed- swatting power of the three cats who live here would turn the entire apartment into their own private A-mew-sment park and the Legos into 1124 new cat-toys faster than you built it! My son never wanted any of that (except maybe the Legos) for Christmas. How much fun to find all that under the tree! I’m jealous of your mom. And that dress is absolutely gorgeous!

Sounds like a great Christmas, CJ. You should read the book, Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Canadian-American author Eleanor Coerr. The main character was inspired to make 1000 paper cranes by the Japanese legend that one who created a thousand origami cranes would be granted a wish.
